what we did//valentine's 2013 part II

FEB16SAT We had plans to take a day trip to Milwaukee but we ended up spending the day in the city instead. It was a free day at the Shedd Aquarium and Peter hadn't been there so we decided to go. On the way, we ate at Sultan's Market (so good and super cheap) where I had a falafel sandwich and Peter had some kind of dinner plate. We got to museum campus, parked and walked over to Shedd where the line was literally hundreds of feet long. Like, out the door, down the marble stairs, through the tent and out on the sidewalk. They close at 6 so we figured we didn't have enough time and it was so so so cold that we decided to just walk next door to the Field Museum. There was no line there. We saw Sue, mummies, giant plastic robot bugs, flowers and other natural history sorts of things. We took a photobooth picture and left when the museum closed. We got home, watched a documentary called The Invisible War on Netflix, ate dinner at home and then we watched Bridesmaids (one of my favorites) since Peter had never seen it. I fell asleep before the movie was over and then we went to bed.

FEB17SUN We went to Hebron on Sunday morning for church where we heard a sermon on relationships. Clearly the boys (Peter) have selective hearing and only decided to listen to the "wives, submit to your husbands" portion even though the message was about the exact opposite and the misconception of the word "submit". Boys. Peter, Charlene, Simon and I went to lunch at Tensuke and had sushi and ramen. Then we went to Mitsuwa for green tea ice cream. We went back to Hebron and watched Simon and the guys play basketball while me, Charlene and Peter ate girl scout cookies. We decided to watch a movie but had some time before the show so we went to Starbucks and then headed over to the Randhurst AMC. I had never been there before but it is soooooooo nice. They have these couch seats on the side with tables for all your food and drinks. We watched Side Effects (so good) and Peter, Simon and Charlene all took turns falling asleep. It's kind of slow but so good. We went home since we weren't hungry and S&C met us at my house for a late dinner. We picked up Buffalo Joe's for the four of us and after we ate, we all, once again, took turns falling asleep. S&C left and me and Peter tried to stay up since it was his last night in Chicago. By "stay up" I mean 2am.

FEB18MON Peter had an early flight so we woke up at 6:30 and we drove to the airport around 7. The lines at security were pretty long so we said our goodbyes and he stood in line while I waited. I drove back home and literally slept all day on the couch and ate chocolate because I was sad.

what we did//valentine's 2013 part I

FEB14THU The day before Peter arrived, I got my nails done and I think this is my new favorite shade of red. I picked up Peter from the airport after class around 2pm and then we went to Hmart to pick up a few things. We ended up eating there and then went home, played with Duke, opened Valentine's chocolates from my parents and then got ready for dinner. We went to Sushi Para for AYCE sushi and then Very Berry for dessert where we got frozen yogurt and a taro latte to share. We went home and Peter helped me study for A&P since I had a quiz the next day. I think I fell asleep while I was studying so we called it a night.

FEB15FRI We were suppose to go to breakfast at Katie's Kitchen before my class but I didn't finish studying the night before so Peter slept in and I woke up early to cram. Peter drove me to school while I crammed even more in the car, I took my quiz and then we went to brunch at Katie's. We went to Old Orchard and Peter bought me this necklace from Tiffany for Valentine's Day. I got Peter some new clothes and we picked up iced tea for the car ride home (which I spilled all over my scarf and face - Peter's fault.) We got ready for dinner and Charlene and Simon came over to meet us. We drove downtown to Purple Pig and found out our wait time was an hour and 45 minute - 2 hours. We waited. Actually, we ended up waiting almost 3 hours since they were running behind. We walked around the mall and ended up sitting on some couches for most of the time and watched strange music videos on the tv. We went back to the restaurant after 2 hours and waited another hour but finally got seated at this communal table. Me and Peter had no idea what to order so Simon ordered 9 dishes/tapas for the four of us to share. I think the brussel sprouts and the pork shoulder were my fav. We also had pig ear (which I'm still convinced weren't really pig ears), beets and goat cheese, calamari, bone marrow (which I didn't eat) and some other pork things. We debated whether or not we should get dessert there but we ended up going to Grand Lux where we got drinks and dessert (creme brulee & beignets). And free bread. We were all falling asleep by this point but S&C came over and we all took turns falling asleep. Simon and Peter caught up and we talked about Syracuse days and then I fell asleep. S&C left and me and Peter went to bed after making plans for Saturday.

Hi. Thanks for visiting my new blog! I've left typepad (my old blog platform) for several reasons but now I'm back on blogger (but with my own domain!). It was just more cost effective that way. I had learned how to code and design specifically for typepad so I've been blindly fiddling with html coding and CSS trying to customize the blogger platform and keep it as consistant as possible with my previous blog. Fortunately, I've been able to figure out the bare minimum and get this site up and running. Unfortunately, my old posts have links that won't be active anymore since my typepad blog will be shut down. And the formatting of the images is all weird (which is really bothering me) but the important thing is that all my posts have been moved and still remain in their previous labels/categories. Although the the formatting is going to bother me, I'm glad I still have the last 6 months of my life documented and present on blog.

Thanks for visiting and please check back soon for updates. Please keep in mind this new URL since my old blog won't be working anymore! I think this one's a keeper.

ps. I have a new about me page!
